We spent 2 nights aboard with Abisua and John and had a wonderful experience sailing through the San Blas Islands (Guna Yala). We swam, snorkeled, fished, explored the islands, and enjoyed delicious freshly prepared meals. Keep in mind that you are on a boat — it can get warm inside while you sleep. There is a shower hose in the small bathroom where you can wash up privately, though we personally preferred using the hose at the stern of the boat. None of that took away from the fun at all. If you have an open mind and aren't afraid of a little roughing it, this is an absolute must-do. We are 63 and 69 years old (both with bad backs) and had no issues whatsoever with the boat, the water taxi (you will get wet!), or the winding roads to reach the port. We felt safe and well looked after the entire time — Petra was always attentive and responsive, and her crew was courteous and punctual.

Returning from San Blas with wonderful memories — had the most extraordinary experience living with the Guna people on Franklin Island for 3 nights. From my very first point of contact, I knew I was in the right hands. Abisua welcomed us in Panama, made sure we arrived safely, and ensured I felt looked after at every moment. They are incredibly well connected with the local community — at one point I even needed sunscreen urgently, and Petra somehow organized and found a way to have it delivered straight to my cabin. The Guna people were incredibly warm and welcoming, and many of them spoke excellent English. We learned so much about their community, sang, danced, and spent our evenings gathered around a bonfire under the moonlight. I could not have wished for a better experience. I leave with a full heart — thank you to the wonderful crew. .
